well as visiting coastal pubs,
quaint tearooms and the ancient
Walmer Castle. The walk leads
you on a path that heads up the
slopes of the Downs to Hawkshill
Freedown.
From this public area of open
grassland you can admire
outstanding views across the
surrounding countryside, made
even more beautiful when
submerged in a wintery frost.
Hawkshill, once a World War
1 Aerodrome, is home to a
memorial to the brave pilots who
flew from there and were killed
fighting in the skies over France.
After paying respects to our
brave and beloved soldiers, this
circular routed, 2.2-mile
adventure, lets you explore and
admire the famous Saxon Shore Way, and to extend your trek to explore
Kingsdown Woods or the quaint village of Deal; where you can while away the
afternoon visiting all the quirky shops, bursting with all things Christmas, or
enjoy a warm mince pie and festive mulled wine in this welcoming town.
