EDUCATION
WHAT MAKES THE SIXTH FORM AT
KENT COLLEGE, CANTERBURY SPECIAL?
“I ENJOY THE ENVIRONMENT AT KC. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO YOU ARE OR WHERE
YOU’RE FROM – THE SCHOOL GIVES YOU THE CHANCE TO FLOURISH.” KC STUDENT
Academic support:
Kent College is an inclusive school
where pupils of all abilities thrive in
our family, friendly community. Our
small class sizes mean that our
excellent teachers get to know each
student really well and are able to offer
individual attention and support, not
only in class, but at regular academic
clinics. Student progress is tracked
throughout the two years, and frequent
reporting; in the form of grades, longer
written reports and parents’ meetings,
all play an important part in helping
each student to fulfil their potential.
We help you to choose the
right course for you:
Every student is different. At Kent
College we do not have a one size fits
all approach. We aim to accommodate
individual choices and requirements
with a flexible approach to our
timetable and the creation of a bespoke
programme for many individuals.

Choice:
We offer three main pathways for
students in the Sixth Form – the
International Baccalaureate Diploma,
A Levels and Cambridge Technicals;
which offer a valuable alternative to
students whose style of learning may
be more suited to ongoing project and
research activities.
The only local Canterbury
school to offer the
International Baccalaureate
Diploma:
The IB Diploma is ideal for students
who want to study a broad range of
subjects to keep their options open for
university and careers. It is an
international examination of high
academic standing throughout the
world, which has seen significant
expansion in the UK in recent years.
It is recognised by all UK universities
and is highly regarded internationally.
The Diploma offers a breadth and
range of skills that are sought after by
employers and higher education alike.
Results and destinations:
We don’t need to shout about them, our results speak for themselves. An IB
average points score of 37 (out of 45) for the last 3 years places Kent College in
the top 10 small cohort IB schools in the UK. A Level students have achieved
an average of 73% of their grades at A* - B for the last 3 years, with nearly half
achieving grades A* - A.
Something for everyone:
We have a huge range of extra-curricular activities at Kent College which allow
all students to develop their interests and talents in their chosen field; be it rowing,
basketball, fencing or tennis. Whether it is A for Archery or Z for Zumba dancing,
there is something for everyone at KC.
In sport, students regularly compete at national level and are coached by England
players in areas such as hockey and cricket. For those musically inclined we have
seven music ensembles and five choirs who tour and perform around the world,
as well as in our brand new state-of-the-art Great Hall, a 600 seat auditorium
for the performing arts.
Helping you make the next step:
We run designated UCAS classes in Year 12 and 13, use Unifrog to help students
with university applications, and have wide experience of Oxbridge, UK and
international university application processes.
Sixth Form open evening is on Monday the 18th November.
