WELCOME
Here it is, not only November, but a new chapter,
and I’m not talking about the post-Brexit-deadline
outcome, (mainly because at the time of going to press
we were still none the wiser..!), but to a new chapter
at insideKENT magazine - and with it a new editor!
Having gone to school in West Wickham, started my
managerial career in Beckenham to my present day
life - living, working and raising my family in our
wonderful county, I have seen first hand what makes
Kent great!
Having worked for insideKENT for five years I am
honoured and privileged to take the helm, not only to
be producing Kent’s best (and only!) county-wide, free-
to-read, luxury lifestyle magazine, but to be working
with the truly dedicated and creative bunch of people
that bring you our fabulous magazine each month.
And what a month to start!
For autumn is fast rushing by, fireworks are almost
over, and that can only mean one thing… We have
been on full-on-festive mode in the office (too early for
Christmas songs? sorry-not-sorry sales team!) for…
Christmas is coming!
So for your Christmas planning ease and excitement
our November issue is jam-packed with all things
Christmas. Wanting to get festive but not sure where
to start? We’ve found the perfect events for
your Christmas days (and nights!) out diaries; plan
a show-stopping Christmas party night p48 , and
book some must-do events from our handy what’s-on
guide on p65.
Christmas planning means one thing SHOPPING!
Whether you love it (which I do!) or loathe it (yes you
Mr ‘Panic-Buy-On-Christmas-Eve’ Ready!) we have
made life easy with our full-to-the-brim 2019 Christmas
Gift Guide. From p81 we have 25 pages of this year’s
top gift picks, from food to gadgets, toys to toiletries,
and everything in between. We have scoured the shelves
to find you some inspiration for the perfect pressie for
her, him and the kids; and you may even find something
for yourself. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve even produced
you a handy guide of where to shop, so check out p75
for everywhere from Kent’s bright department stores
to one-off markets.
Not one for cooking on the big day? Then we have
found some amazing menus for dining out on Christmas
Day & Boxing Day on p55. And if you are a true foodie
then don’t wait until Christmas for a fine meal out,
find inspiration from our monthly food reviews. This
issue includes the never-fails-to-impress The Dog at
Wingham on p114.
Perhaps all this talk of Christmas already has you
running for the hills? Why not head to the Downs
instead and book yourself a true me-time escape at the
glorious South Lodge Hotel & Spa, you can read about
our stay on p141.
Right... I’m off to blow away the (Halloween) cobwebs,
with a wintery walk inspired by Explore Kent on p44
and celebrate my first issue with a milkshake with my
littlest dude!
We’re a social bunch so let us know what you get up
to this November and how your Christmas planning
is going - find us insidekent/insideKENT
