EDUCATION
IN ASSOCIATION WITH
NORTHBOURNE PARK SCHOOL
Considering the amount of time children spend at school it is vital
that all schools consider how they provide an all-round education
for their children. This includes guiding them through their academic
progress, encouraging them to think for themselves, introducing
them to the worlds of creativity and sport and ensuring they are
mindful of others and respect diversity.
At Northbourne Park School the children experience many
layers of education. Yes, there is the challenge of doing your best
in the classroom, to understand that pushing yourself is a good
thing. However, the children are also shown how to cope with
failure, to learn from this experience and to try again without that
feeling of dejection.
Besides the guidance in the classroom, the children at Northbourne
Park lead an active school life. All the children enjoy regular sports
sessions up to five times a week and also benefit from an outdoor
education programme that makes full use of the school’s one
hundred acre grounds. In fact, many of the parents express envy
that their children are cooking on open fires, building shelters and
taking on the challenges of a new STEM programme.
Added into the mix are the creative arts; all the children take part
in music, art, design, technology, drama and IT activities. After
all, the UK is renowned for pushing the boundaries in innovation
and we regard this as vital in education.
Perhaps the most important layer is the one where the children
are encouraged to talk, to mix together, to learn languages in our
multicultural community and to share. That way, no one feels
alone and everyone feels that they play a part in a happy, caring
community that is Northbourne Park School.
