WEDDINGS
WEDDING TRENDS IN 2020 CONT.
UTTERLY WOW
Colour
I don’t think pinks will ever go out of fashion in
the wedding world, whether it’s coral – the current
Pantone Colour of the Year – or blush pink,
which goes with everything and is essentially
considered a nude. It was recently let slip that the
Pantone Colour of the Year 2020 will be inspired
by the ocean, so I can see natural, cooler tones of
blue and green being used more in wedding colour
schemes. The linen choice we now have in the UK
is larger than ever, so expect to see subtle shades of
duck egg blue and sea-foam green replacing the
standard white linen.
Dress
2020 brides are favouring feminine and romantic
for their wedding dresses, so think delicate lace, sheer

detailing, floaty fabric and A-line skirts over fitted
fishtails. I also think many brides will be embracing
their inner princess and going for quite a full skirt,
but pairing this with more relaxed, bohemian hair
and styling.
couples to play their part. But the key part is in the
post-wedding clear up. Couples and suppliers alike
have a responsibility not only to buy the eco-friendly
products, but to dispose of them properly too.

Eco-Friendly
I think that the momentum to use less single-use
plastic and be more eco-friendly is going to become
much more possible for weddings in 2020, and
therefore hopefully more popular. There’s already
a large movement among wedding florists to stop
using floral foam. This is traditionally used to keep
flowers in place and hydrated throughout the day
but it is non-biodegradable. Loose confetti and
recyclable confetti cones over confetti bags, and
wooden plates and cutlery for the evening buffet
over disposable plastic…there are lots of ways for
With news that the government are reviewing the
current law stating that marriage can only legally
take place in either a church or a licenced venue,
the possibility of being able to get married anywhere
will hugely shake up the wedding industry in 2020.
If the new law has been passed by then, expect more
back garden, beach, woodland and outdoor
ceremonies. Weather permitting of course...
