Spectacular views of coast and countryside on the
ROMNEY, HYTHE &
DYMCHURCH RAILWAY
SUMMER IS HERE AND THE SUN IS SHINING ON THE KENT COAST. TAKE
IN THE SPECTACULAR VIEWS OF BOTH THE COAST AND COUNTRYSIDE
IN A CARRIAGE BEHIND ONE OF THE ROMNEY, HYTHE & DYMCHURCH
RAILWAY’S 90-YEAR-OLD STEAM LOCOMOTIVES. IN THESE CARRIAGES,
EVERY SEAT IS A WINDOW SEAT ALLOWING PASSENGERS TO RELAX
AND BECOME IMMERSED IN THEIR SURROUNDINGS.
The journeys between Hythe and
Dungeness steam past the Royal Military
Canal, Sounds Mirrors, Dungeness
Lighthouse and much more.
A great day out for all generations,
children will be fascinated to see the
steam locomotives working, from being
filled with coal by the firelighter in the
morning to seeing the water column fill
the tender throughout the day. The
15-inch gauge railway allows children
to experience a railway suited to
their size. Adults and children alike can
envelop themselves in the model
railway exhibition at New Romney
Station, enjoy the interactive features
and marvel at the trains climbing hills
and appearing from tunnels.
The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch
Railway hosts an array of special events
throughout the year including a train
returning from Hythe Venetian Fete after
the event closes on Wednesday 21st
August, Bus Rally Day on Sunday 1st

Saturday 14th September. The end of
the year sees the railway’s popular Santa
Specials which run from Saturday 23rd
November to Christmas Eve. Pre-
booking is essential for these special trains,
tickets are on sale now.
