TAKE IN THE SPECTACULAR VIEWS OF BOTH THE COAST AND COUNTRYSIDE IN A CARRIAGE BEHIND ONE OF THE ROMNEY, HYTHE & DYMCHURCH RAILWAY’S 90-YEAR-OLD STEAM LOCOMOTIVES. IN THESE CARRIAGES, EVERY SEAT IS A WINDOW SEAT ALLOWING PASSENGERS TO RELAX AND BECOME IMMERSED IN THEIR SURROUNDINGS. The journeys between Hythe and Dungeness steam past the Royal Military Canal, Sounds Mirrors, Dungeness Lighthouse and much more. A great day out for all generations, children will be fascinated to see the steam locomotives working, from being filled with coal by the firelighter in the morning to seeing the water column fill the tender throughout the day. The 15-inch gauge railway allows children to experience a railway suited to their size. Adults and children alike can envelop themselves in the model railway exhibition at New Romney Station, enjoy the interactive features and marvel at the trains climbing hills and appearing from tunnels. The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway hosts an array of special events throughout the year including a train returning from Hythe Venetian Fete after the event closes on Wednesday 21st August, Bus Rally Day on Sunday 1st September and Fireman Sam on Saturday 14th September. The end of the year sees the railway’s popular Santa Specials which run from Saturday 23rd November to Christmas Eve. Pre- booking is essential for these special trains, tickets are on sale now.
