WELCOME
I don’t want to linger on the weather (how
boring), but seriously, what is with this
weather?! Where’s summer?
Let’s just hope the cold and rain holds off
for one of my favourite events of the year
(no, not my birthday): the Leeds Castle
Classical Concert, this year on Saturday
13th July. If you haven’t been, well why
not? This year the concert is celebrating
Leeds Castle’s 900th anniversary – quite
a spectacular birthday if you ask me.
Imagine an evening of open-air music
from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra,
summery drinks and gourmet picnics, an
air display from a vintage Spitfire, crowds
of happy people and some of the best
fireworks you’ll ever see, all set in the
grounds of “the loveliest castle in the
world” – I can’t wait!
Receiving insideKENT through my
letterbox each month is always an exciting
event; partly because I’m desperate to
make sure there aren’t any embarrassing
headline typos, but mostly because I like
to sit down with the magazine and take
my time reading through all of the
amazing places and things to do within
our county.
ones entertained during half term in our
summer activity guide, starting on page
77. The insideKENT team was lucky
enough to spend the day floating down
the River Stour with Canoe Wild (p90) –
absolutely recommended it for a hot
summer’s day.
It’s also that time of year for holidays,
glorious holidays. Do you have plans to
go away this summer? The almighty
‘staycation’ is becoming more and more
popular, with over 40% of people in the
South East choosing to stay in the area
for their summer hols. If you’re planning
on doing the same, have a look at our
Staycation feature starting on p127 for
some of the best places to get away from
it all, without the travel headache.
Whether you’ll be staying in Kent the
whole summer or jetting away to another
beautiful destination, I hope you can enjoy
a few stress-free days to recharge! Let us
know what you’re up to on Instagram,
Twitter or Facebook @insidekent.
