Deal Museum’s displays portray the changing
history of Deal, Walmer and the surrounding area
and it’s packed to the rafters with fascinating glimpses
into the past. In 1989, the cottage first became Sheerness Heritage
Centre, but in 2015 it was renamed Rose Street
Cottage of Curiosities after coming under the
umbrella of Sheppey’s Promenade charity.
Promenade started in 2011 with a gathering of like-
minded people who had a vision of local organisations
working together to celebrate Island life through a
festival of arts, history and culture.

A Victorian maritime Greenwich Mean Time signal
located on the roof of a waterfront four-storey tower
in the coastal town of Deal, featuring a number of
interesting and interactive displays related to
communication, semaphore and signalling.

of all ages. Run wild in the outdoor play area, burn
off steam on pedal tractors, leap on the bouncy castle,

A unique partnership that preserves Kent’s
firefighting heritage within a family-run garden
centre. Clubs, groups and societies are welcome to
visit the museum by arrangement. Enquiries from
people willing to support and help run the museum
are welcome.
