insideKENT Magazine Issue 87 - June 2019 | Page 12

WELCOME What a year it’s been – we’re already halfway through! I always seem to find myself wishing away the months, anticipating the next big event or the next sunny week, only to get through 30 days to find myself wishing for next month. In June, I’m going to make an effort to stop wishing and enjoy each day for what it is. Gloomy day with nothing on the calendar? I’m going to embrace it rather than wish it away, and try to keep in mind that there’s always something to do in our beautiful county, rain or shine. On those days when you’re sitting at home, wondering what to do, wonder no more. As part of our annual Arts Issue, we’ve come up with Kent’s top 100 arts and culture hotspots (p44), highlighting some of the Garden of England’s best galleries, museums, theatres and events, from Dartford to Deal. And of course it wouldn’t be insideKENT without boasting about some of the fabulous food available in our towns and villages. This month, the county’s most mouth-watering fish and chips is on the menu – have a look at our top spots starting on page 97. And for dessert? Caaake. Cupcakes to be exact. To celebrate National Cupcake Day on 13th June, we’ve included some delicious recipes for you to try out at home (p83). Doing anything exciting this month? We’d love to hear all about it – keep in touch on social media @insideKENT, or email [email protected] with your plans, ideas or news. Bring on the summer! Donna Creative & Editorial Director This issue is packed with more arts pages than ever before, from our favourite Kent artists (p31) to an extended feature on local, national and worldwide arts charities that anyone would be proud to support (p159). Looking for something interesting to spice up your home interior? Check out our Wonderwall feature on page 132 (The Blue Pencil Canvas is one of my personal favourites). www.insidekentmagazine.co.uk Creative & Editorial Director Donna Martin Sales & Publishing Director Adam Ready Deputy Editor Polly Humphris Features & Online Editor Lisamarie Lamb Fashion Editor Molly Neznanski Gil Senior Designer Dave Leo Yogore Graphic Designer Laurence Whymark Senior Account Manager Greg Bettles Account Manager Jerry Barrett Operations Manager Samantha Ready Contributors Sarah Greene / Rick Schofield Photography Ap-Art Photography Cover Bill Woodrow, The Ledge, Folkestone seafront / www.creativefolkestone.org.uk / photo © Manuel Vason insideKENT Magazine is published by Sideways Media Ltd, The Panorama, Park Street, Ashford, Kent TN24 8DF www.sidewaysmedia.co.uk For general enquiries, please contact [email protected] or 01233 226240 For all advertising enquiries, please contact Adam Ready on 01233 226519 or email [email protected] © Copyright 2019.
