Fergus T he Forager, otherwise kno wn as F ergus Drennan, is an
experimental wild food lover and enthusiast w ho enjoys educating
people on how they can forage for their meals throughout the year,
no matter where they live; he e ven made a tele vision programme
called The Roadkill Chef. Land yacht. The two words in isolation make sense – we all know what each one means,
but put them together and you might get some confused faces peering back at you. Not for
long, though...once those faces (and the people behind them) are introduced to Fishy’s Land
Yachts. Based in Lydd, Fishy’s Land Yachts offers you the chance to try out these fun vehicles
in a safe environment with master instructors to hand.
Fergus offers a variety of exciting foraging courses in and ar ound
the Canterbury area, as well as in East Sussex. He is about to embark
on a new e xperiment called ‘T he Year-Long 100% W ild Food
Experiment’ where he will attempt to live only on foraged food for
the entire year. So, you can see just how passionate he is about this
and if you want to lear n about found and f oraged food, Fergus is
definitely the man to ask. Land yachts, also known as sand yachts as they are often used on beaches (although in the
case of Fishy’s it’s a field), ar e small, f our-wheeled machines that have a sail a ttached
to them. T he wind them pushes them along a t speed and it’ s y our job to steer
them. This is a great day out for all those who love to get their adrenalin pumping.
Courses include:
• Full day foraging and feasting
• Fungi foraging and feasting
• Seaweed foraging, feasting, nori sheet and sushi making
• Seasonal natural dyeing and mushroom papermaking
• Acorns and oak: foraging, cooking, eating, preserving

Tobogganing at the Ski and Snowboard Centre // www.jnlchatham.co.uk
There are many outdoor pursuits to enjoy at Chatham’s Ski and Snowboard Centre, but
one of the most unique and quirky has to be tobogganing. Here you can have the pleasure
of riding a tobog gan down the UK’s longest tobog gan track; it’s a twisty, turny, family
adventure suitable for everyone aged four and up. Those aged eight upwards can ride on
their own, although y ounger children will need someone aged o ver 16 to help them.
