As any fans of musical theatre will know, Les
Misérables is London’s longest running musical
and will celebrate 34 years in the West End
later this year. Simon Sc hofield and Scott
Garnham are two West End actors who have
both performed in the international hit show
and ar e no w touring their o wn critically
acclaimed production, Stars of Les Mis: The
Barricade Boys, around the UK before stopping
off in Bromley on Sa turday 1st June. The
boys will perform all of the classic Les Mis
songs that everyone knows and lo ves, but
with a slight twist – the y sing in a unique
four-part arrangement. Audience members
can also expect some rock and roll, pop and
swing to feature during the evening’s show
so there really is something for everyone.

Rick Wakeman headlines the finale concert of
the 16-day festival that includes T he Tallis
Scholars, T he London Comm unity Gospel

play the music of Pentangle, Vanity Ball with

Midsummer’s Night Dream, several different guided
rambles in the delightful countr yside around
Sevenoaks, colourscape workshops that enable
you to ‘paint’ with colour and light, and a
Festival Fair on Sa turday 22nd J une in the
centre of Sevenoaks with fun f or children of
all ages, most of it free. Allington Castle is e xclusively opening the g ates to its priv ate
residence on Sunda y 23r d June to Heart of Kent Hospice.
This is a unique opportunity to discover the magnificent castle
gardens and explore a stunning piece of local histor y. Only a
short distance from Maidstone sitting along the banks of the river
Medway near Allington Lock, this beautiful priv ately owned
castle is surrounded by a picturesque moat, manicured lawns and
fountains and is set in 42 acres of woodland. The castle approach
is a stunning causewa y view that splits a lar ge lake f lanked by
beautiful gardens. There are many exciting features including a
lavender walk leading up to an Italian garden with a large pond
and fountain, rose arbour and temple. There are also on offer a
limited number of tickets for “a once in a lifetime” internal tour
of Allington Castle itself. Unearth the rich tapestry of history
held within its walls and f ollow in the footsteps of great Tudor
legends such as Anne Bole yn. Enjoy your own picnic on the
lawn, alter natively refreshments and cr eam teas will also be
available on the day.
