NEW COMPANY WINE TOURS OF KENT TRANSPORTS YOU TO
KENT’S AWARD-WINNING WINERIES
As the English wine industry continues to boom, a new local company,
Wine Tours of Kent, launches guided wine tours and tastings with transport. and most importantly transport, so you can enjoy the wine. Their tours cater for
the curious, right up to wine buffs alike.
The guided tour transports you through the Kent countryside, so you can discover
some of England's award-winning vineyards and wineries. On the standard full-
day tour, you visit wineries such as Chapel Down, Gusbourne and Woodchurch
wine, all fabulous wineries offering something different with their own individual
charm. The day includes a vineyard and winery tour, tutored wine tastings, lunch Whilst living in Australia for six years, owner Abi enjoyed many wine tours in
different wine regions. Abi says: “It’s such a fun day out with friends, tasting lots
of locally produced wine and you don’t have to worry about the driving. After
returning home and seeing how much the local wine industry was booming, I
thought this is exactly what we are missing in Kent.”
MAYOR OPENS NEW LOOK MARQUIS OF GRANBY
An historic village pub has been officially re-opened
by the Mayor of Dover, Cllr Sue Jones.
The 200-year-old Marquis at Alkham was bought
by Ashford’s GSE Group last year and has reopened
under its original name of the Marquis of Granby.
Cllr Jones pulled a ceremonial first pint at an opening
night party in April.
The pub has undergone an extensive refurbishment
with the new team led by Will and Nadine Sheldon
aiming to make it an important part of village life.
“After months of hard work getting this historic
building just how we want it, we are excited to be
opening our doors and look forward to meeting our
new customers over the coming weeks and months,”
said Will.
Cllr Jones said: “It was lovely to see so many people
turn out to welcome Nadine and Will on their
opening night. They and their team have done a
fabulous job merging old and new into a charming
reinvented venue for the Dover area. I wish them
every success for the future.”
Nadine said: “This building has been a focal point
for the village and surrounding area for more than
two centuries. We are very aware of its history and
importance and are proud to be continuing its story
into a new era.”
