VISITKENT LOCAL HEROES FOCUS ON THE KING’S HEAD, AWARD-WINNING GASTROPUB IN HISTORIC KENT, RUN BY SCOTT RICHARDSON AND MARK LIGHTFORD Spotlight on Greensand Ridge We are proud to work with artisan Kent gin distillery, Greensand Ridge, who supply us not only with gin, but also with incredible tasting rum (our top summer tip for great cocktails). Will Edge founded Greensand Ridge in 2016, with a desire to create craft gin using locally foraged botanicals and surplus Kent fruit rejected by supermarkets. Nearly three years later, their historic barn houses beautiful copper stills, wooden barrels, tanks and an end-to-end bottling and labelling line. They may be small, but their ambitions are big, and we are proud to offer our customers a gin that’s local, award winning and of such great quality. For a behind-the-scenes tour of the distillery, and our top tips on making the perfect G&T, take a look at our video online www.kingsheadwye.com/greensandridge. Eat Drink Stay Lamb is the order of the day in spring, and we are incredibly lucky to source ours from Wye Community Farm. The heritage breeds of Poll Dorset and Portland sheep graze on the lush grass of the Wye Downs, just above the village. Our Head Chef, Carl Jordan, is passionate about the advantages of working with local suppliers like Wye Community Farm: “This is how it should be, supplying the local community with minimum food mileage.” Stop by for dinner and taste this exceptional lamb for yourself! Head online to book quickly and easily. Although we’re renowned for our curated alcohol selection, we have quite a name for our hot drinks too, particularly our hot chocolate. So what’s the secret? It’s all about using the best ingredients and we work closely with Hendricks of Hythe to get the highest quality chocolate. Handmade without artificial additives or enhancers, the Kent-based chocolaterie supply us with rich chocolate that melts into molten indulgence. Frothed with milk for the perfect pick-me-up. See more about Hendricks on www.kingsheadwye.com. Nestled at the foot of Wye Downs, AONB, we are privileged to be surrounded by stunning countryside with walks along the North Downs Way right on the doorstep. We are happy to give our visitors suggestions of places to visit, starting with Wye’s bustling farmers’ market and our own Vintage & Brocade market on the first Saturday of the month. Venturing further afield, we are within easy reach of historic Canterbury, seaside Whitstable and the Eurotunnel to France and Belgium. All this, and just an hour from London via the High Speed rail link. Book direct on our website.
