LAUNCHES SUMMER SEASON
AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR THE HAZLITT THEATRE SAW THE COMPLETION OF WORKS IN
THEIR EXCHANGE STUDIO WITH THE ARRIVAL OF A NEW £35,000 SEATING UNIT, COMPLEMENTING
THE WORK THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN CARRIED OUT OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. THIS
WORK INCLUDED, THE REDECORATION OF THE BAR, NEW DRAPES AND FLATS, RELOCATION AND
BUILD OF A NEW TECHNICAL BOX. THE STUDIO BOASTS A PACKED SUMMER SEASON OF EVENTS
INCLUDING COMEDY, THEATRE, WORKSHOPS, CLASSES, FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT AND DANCE.
The summer season offers comedy
lovers the very popular Angela Barnes,
Jim Tavare, Andrew Maxwell,
Andrew Laurence and Adam Riches
amongst others. In addition, due to
the success of monthly Live Nation
Comedy Nights, The Comedy Store,
Maidstone will continue its monthly
showcase, where several top acts can
be seen in just one night.
Music fanatics will be pleased to see
the return of The Opera Boys and the
Marty Wilde & The Wildcats tour.
Plus a special treat with Lee Mead –
My Story, a ‘stripped down’ show that
will combine conversation, music and
see Lee reflect on his life and career.
Audiences will have the chance to
listen to Lee chat about the magical

moments, the highs, the lows, the
memories of his life and of course
performances of the songs that mean
so much to him and his fans. These
are complemented by a selection of
great tribute acts by The Sound of
Springsteen, Simon & Garfunkel
Story, The Stones and Jackson Live.
For the younger ones there will
be stunning productions with The
Very Hungry Caterpillar, Dear Zoo,
Ministry of Science, Disgusting Songs for
Revolting Children and A Right Royal
Drawalong in the Main House. In the
Studio, performances of The Flying
Bath and The Ugly Duckling. For
budding young performers the Hazlitt
Youth Theatre will be running its
annual Summer Festival with events
for children aged 6 – 18 throughout the week commencing 5th August,
working towards performances of James and the Giant Peach and Grease at the
end of the week.
For those who need that good old fashioned hit of theatre, there are new
performances titled Flux and Orphan in the Exchange Studio with award-winning
credits. The Main House will host a return from The Market Theatre Company,
that gave the very popular adult pantomime in January, when they return with
their latest offering A Roman Romp!.
Who remembers Dad’s Army? We are delighted to see the return of actor Jack
Lane following his successful solo performance last year in Wisdom of A Fool. He
is now starring in the Dad’s Army Radio Show alongside David Benson, and between
them? ?play 25 characters from the brilliant staging of three classic radio episodes
based on favourite scripts from the beloved TV series.
From young to old, whether it's watching a performance or being in one, the
Hazlitt Summer Season certainly does have something for everyone!
