Modern luxury in the heart of the West End
THE LANGHAM,
LONDON
THE BRIGHT PINK LANGHAM AND UNION JACK FLAGS SWAYED GENTLY IN THE
CRISP LATE AFTERNOON BREEZE; A SUBTLE HERALDING OF OUR ARRIVAL AT ONE
OF THE GRANDEST AND MOST HISTORIC ENTRANCES IN THE CAPITAL.
by Samantha Ready
Coined as Europe’s first ‘Grand Hotel’, The
Langham has been the master of ultimate comfort,
modern luxury and personalised service since it
opened its iconic Portland Place doors back in 1865.
Today, the grand building, set just a few metres from
the hustle and bustle of Oxford Circus, heralds its
latest chapter in the bible of ‘all things luxury hotel’.
The recent addition of deluxe suites, a proper British
tavern (The Wigmore), and the stunning and secluded
Chuan Body + Soul spa, combine with their
pioneering exclusive club concept, The Langham
Club, and the acclaimed dining offering, Roux at

the Landau, offering an exciting, welcoming and
inspired London stay.
Being the proud occupants of a fifth-floor Executive
room not only afforded us a large corner bedroom
with king-size bed, partitioned dressing area, double
marble vanity and luxurious bathroom, as well as
incredible views of the BBC building and beyond to
the beautiful Regents Park; but also access to The
Langham Club.
Located across two floors, The Langham Club takes
the private members’ club ethos and applies it to a
luxury hotel setting. Dedicated check in, personal
concierge and private butlers are paired with beautiful
and relaxing lounges with open fires, The Butlers’
Pantry – a culinary collaboration with celebrity chefs
Albert Roux OBE and Michel Roux Jr, to tempt
club members with private breakfasts (the pancakes
are a fluffy-pillow-of-heaven must!), award-winning
afternoon teas (oh, those cakes) and evening canapés
– and the intimate and secluded lounge, perfect for
sipping on the seemingly endless top-ups of fine
Champagne, or a tempting cocktail (or six) from the
alluring menu.
