We began with cocktails chosen from the the ‘For Every Season’ signature menu – a THE BVLD for him (Hanger One Vodka, Combier Framboise, lime juice, blackberry, mint and Fever Tree club soda) and of course I had to try the Pretty Woman (Moet & Chandon, Belvedere Vodka, Combier Peche De Vigne, lemon juice, raspberries, egg white and rose petal) – before being inundated with beautifully presented, full-of- flavour dishes from the well-conceived and expertly executed menu. We were delighted by the sharing plate of crisp black truffle and comte fritters and vegetable medley, complete with animal-shaped toast and breads for the children, and our appetizers of perfectly seared scallops with black olive oil and the tuna tartare with a subtle kick of wasabi. Equally delightful were our entrées of dry aged Wagyu – perfectly pink with charred cauliflower hummus and gooseberry – and the free-range half roast chicken with potatoes, marinated artichokes and garlic butter. And we simply had to make room for dessert to try the intriguing wonder of the sweet potato doughnuts and the apple pudding cake delivered by Executive Pastry Chef, Chris Ford. No stay in L.A. would be complete without a visit. Their modern take on American comfort food philosophy is simple: great food, a cool vibe and interesting cocktails at a great price, and their delivery is amazing. Located on the contemporary Fairfax Avenue, West Hollywood, the dining room is industrial urban – think exposed brick walls, high wooden bar stools, metal and glass shelves, and simple leather banquette benches and metal chairs at tables for two, with chalkboards offering daily specials. The bar, if you can get a seat, is a great place to hang out and sample the intriguingly named cocktails (the Sweet Chick/Side Chick and the Tiger Tiger Woods Y’all were our faves), as well as the less lethal homemade lemonades. waffles. But not just any waffles. How about dried cherry or spiced pecan, or apple and cinnamon. And this wasn’t just fried chicken; this was a taste explosion, can’t-get-enough crispy, spicy, chicken heaven. We highly recommend the Chicken with Bacon N Cheddar Waffles and the Sweet Chick Bucket with fried chicken, buttermilk biscuit and Kohirabi slaw (devoured so quickly we had to order a second!) with a side order of both home and shoestring fries.
