DELIGHT
Spotlight on The King’s Head,
award-winning gastropub in
historic Kent, run by Scott
Richardson and Mark Lightford.
A day in the life of The King’s Head
Morning
From welcoming our breakfast guests to sorting
out what’s been delivered by our local suppliers,
the mornings are often our busiest times. There’s
nothing better than the smell of fresh bread
wafting out of the kitchen! Daytime
Because we open all day, we’ve become a real
community hub. People pop in for a coffee and
a chat, stop by after walking the dog (our chefs
even make dog biscuits which always go down
a treat!) and end up staying for lunch. It’s a
pleasure to have so many regulars. Evening
We’re so lucky to have incredible produce
right on our doorstep and our seasonal menu
showcases all that’s great in Kent. Evenings are
always busy as we get booked up but we wouldn’t
have it any other way! Happy, well-fed guests
make for a happy team.
Eat
Come to The King’s Head hungry because
you’ll want to try everything on the menu. We’re
thrilled to have garnered numerous awards and
critical acclaim, including winning Kent Life Pub
of the Year 2017, scooping the no.25 spot in the
prestigious Top 50 Gastropubs 2017 awards, and
taking the runner up award for Best Sunday Lunch
in the national Observer FoodMonthly Awards.
Our menu top tip? The Stour Valley Game Wild
Boar and Chorizo scotch egg is a triumph, perfectly
balancing big, bold flavours. Booking Essential. Drink
From Kentish sparkling wines to local ales, we
are proud to offer an extensive drinks offering
at The King’s Head. Stand-out on the menu is
our gin selection, including locally made Copper
Rivet and Greensand Ridge. Not only are they
superb quality, they share the same local ethos
as us. Greensand Ridge work with local farmers
to reduce food waste by fermenting and distilling
quality produce that supermarkets reject. Your
G&T tastes great and helps the environment too! Stay
With just seven rooms, we concentrate on giving
our guests a memorable experience when staying
with us. Each is thoughtfully decorated with
reclaimed and vintage furniture, and all are
beautifully comfortable and cosy. The only thing
to tempt you away will be the generous breakfast.
