WEDDINGS
insideKENT’S TOP WEDDING TRENDS FOR 2019 CONT.
Theme Me Up
In a clear move to individuality, 2019 weddings will
see a rise in the use of personalisation rather than
following a set theme or colour spectrum. Whilst
ice-cream pastels, nudes and corals will be hot this
year, experiment with different colour bridesmaid
dresses, embrace guest choice and mix up the flower
colours for a kaleidoscope ef fect. Dare to be bold
with brightly coloured confetti, and make sure you
have loads of it, all the better f or achieving that
Instagram-worthy confetti shot. Make the da y all
about the two of you and what and where you have
chosen for your ceremony – think monog rammed
invitations, décor and cakes; or invitations that feature
custom illustrations of the venue building or location,
the directions to get there or even the happy couple
themselves. There will be a move away from standard
‘This wa y to the R eception’ ar rows in fa vour
of creative custom-designed signage, or for none at
all as guests mingle and explore the venue at their
own leisure.
The Ceremony
Striving to have a unique and personal celebration
which also gives all the emotional feels and some
lasting memories will see mor e of y ou opt f or
celebrant-led cer emonies. Completing leg al

formalities elsewhere allows celebrant-led weddings
flexibility when it comes to venues, outside locations,
personalised v ows and af firmations, and of
course to creating a ceremony that is totally bespoke
and unique.
The Photography
The g reat thing about r elaxed cer emonies and
receptions? Relaxed guests! And in turn great candid
photos. Replace staged group shots with naturally
captured true moments, and add in pr ops such as
sparklers, confetti or smoke to add even more life to
your pictures. They say never work with children or
animals, but we all know how cute they will be on
the day – nothing beats the flowergirl/pageboy shot
and photos with your treasured pet.
Be brave and insist on an unplugged ceremony; there
is nothing worse than guests being absorbed in their
phone and not in the moment, and no w orse
professional image than one full of other peoples’
phones in fr ont of the happ y couple’ s faces .
If you are happy for images to be shared on social
media then giv e people a hashtag so y ou can all
share and embar go online images if you want to
keep things private. And in keeping with the do-it-
your-way trend, be creative with your photographer
and don’t be afraid to br eak the rules: see y our
spouse-to-be before the cer emony for a beautiful
emotional first look captur ed on camera; escape
from the crowds to create the perfect couple moments
which can be done pre-ceremony to quell the nerves
and b uild the e xcitement; and be bold! A void
minimalism with daring composition and landscapes
such as those beautifully created by renowned and
highly sought-after K ent and destina tion
photographer P ete a t A p-Art Photog raphy
(www.apartphotography.com), to create your own
awe-inspiring, treasure-forever images.
