Date Night 5…

Star and Eagle
leaving you even more time to spend
together...
Doing something creative with your partner
can be just the thing to make date night
something to remember, especially if you get
to bring your creation home with you and can
keep it as a souvenir. At The Ceramic Studio
in Brenchley, there’s a pottery experience day
that’s ideal for those who want to try
something new as a couple. No experience is
required and you’ll come away with a new
skill as well as having lots of fun. And of course,
ever since Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore
got messy with clay in Ghost, pottery has been
something that has been linked with romance.
This is a full day workshop from 10am until
5pm, leaving you the rest of the evening to
continue your date. Perhaps Go Ape at Bedgebury Pinetum floats
your adventurous boat? Bedgebury National
Pinetum and Forest is a gorgeous spot full of
the most beautiful Scots pines. There are plenty
of activities going on here at all times of the
year, and one of the most exciting and most
popular has to be Go Ape. Go Ape is all about
climbing through the trees tackling obstacles
high above the ground. It’s a thrilling activity
and ideal for those who love to raise their
adrenalin levels. You get an hour to climb
along the specially designed route that
includes a 170-metre zipline, a 13-metre high
platform, and a 19-metre long crossing,
which in total is a whopping 812-metres long!
Alternatively, if you don’t want to spend an
entire day doing pottery, you can book a taster
session which runs from 1pm until 4pm, Next it will be time to eat, and the Star and
Eagle in Goudhurst seems to be the ideal place
to go. This hotel, pub and restaurant dates
right back to the 14th century and within its
ancient walls you’ll find a real inglenook
fireplace where, during the winter, blazing log
fires warm the room. There is definitely a
friendly, cosy atmosphere and the food is first
class, made to order by a top chef. The cuisine
is a mix of both traditional British and more
exotic dishes...options include: baked avocado
and crab with a cheese sauce; Rioja-braised
shoulder of lamb with chorizo and garlic baked
in the oven very slowly with carrots and
roasted peppers; and chicken fajitas, salsa,
guacamole, sour cream and tortillas.
There is often live music at the Star and Eagle
too, so when you’ve finished your sumptuous
meal, you can sit back and relax with a drink
or two and enjoy the entertainment on offer.
