Chiddingstone Castle is an historic house set
in 35 acres of Kentish countryside and filled
with extraordinary treasures collected over a
lifetime by Denys Eyre Bower. The castle has
Tudor origins, Victorian rooms and was
remodelled in the 19th century to resemble a
medieval castle. The castle was the home of
this gifted collector from 1955-1977 and his
treasures are on display throughout the
museum. The castle grounds have far-
reaching views of the Greensand Ridge, below
the North Downs and has a lake as well as a
Grade II listed Victorian orangery, large open
lawns and an Ancient Egyptian-inspired graze
maze and trail.
The tea room offers light lunches and
cream teas served on traditional vintage china,
and the gift shop sells an array of local produce,
gifts, antiques and secondhand books.
Chiddingstone Castle also hosts a series
of events throughout the year including a
Literary Festival and a Country & Food Festival.
The castle and grounds are available for
exclusive hire for weddings and private
functions.
