Made in Kent is the Festival’s framework for providing opportunities for talent development and training to young people in all the disciplines present in the Festival programme – music (popular and classical), theatre, visual arts, comedy, creative writing, stage management and more. The scheme demonstrates a commitment from the Festival to finding, developing and showcasing local emerging talent. There’s so much for the community to get involved in at lots of different levels – and we couldn’t make it all happen without two vital things. Firstly, donations to our outreach work keep them free to participants; it’s easy to donate via our website. Secondly, our brilliant and dedicated volunteers, some of whom have been with us for almost 30 years! Find out more about how to become a volunteer on our website. Make sure you’re in Canterbury City Centre on Saturday 20 October for the Festival’s Opening Day Parade followed by street entertainment and live music in Whitefriars – there will be something for everyone to enjoy! Sign up to Canterbury’s Festival’s mailing list at canterburyfestival.co.uk to receive a Canterbury Festival brochure. Priority booking for Festival Friends will open on 16 July and general booking opens on 30 July. For more information, call 01227 452 853 or email [email protected] YolanDa Brown The Shires 165
