WHITEFRIARS’ NEXT TOP MODELS REVEALED
Whitefriars recruited ten local amateur models
for their Spring Fashion Show which is now
being displayed on digital screens across the
Canterbury shopping centre, as well as online. choosing overall winners to appear in the
show, which was filmed at The Marlowe
Theatre Studio in Canterbury on 4th March
this year.
Entrants aged five and over were invited to
send in a recent photo to be judged by a team
of retail marketing experts. Over 100 entries
were received and judges had a hard time Whitefriars’ marketing manager, Julie Holness
said: “This was a great opportunity for local
aspiring models to participate in a professional
fashion event. It gave participants valuable

UNIVERSITY OF KENT APPOINTS
DOUBLE OLYMPIAN AS NEW DIRECTOR
OF KENT SPORT
Mel Clewlow, who has
represented both
England and Great
Britain in field hockey,
has been appointed
director of sport at the
University of Kent. Her
responsibilities will
include overseeing the
continuing development
of the university’s sport facilities, which are open to the
local community.
Mel made her international debut in 1996 as a key member
of the England team that went on to win silver at the 1998
and 2002 Commonwealth Games. She achieved double-
Olympian status for attendance at the 2000 and 2008
Olympic Games. Although retired from international
competition, she continues to play as a spirited defender
and is chair for Canterbury Ladies Hockey Club.
Commenting on her appointment, Mel Clewlow said: “I
am very excited to be offered the opportunity to truly make
a difference to the student and staff experience, as well as
building relationships in the local community. I understand
the importance of leading an active lifestyle and the impact
this can have on health, wellbeing and the mental health
of individuals – with such a fantastic team ready to take
on new challenges, we can really make a difference to all
customers who use our facilities.”
