FOOD+DRINK
BLUEWATER ...after dark
YOU HAVE SOME TIME TO YOURSELF AND YOU
WANT SOMEWHERE TO RELAX AND HAVE A
GOOD TIME. PERHAPS YOU HAVE A SPECIAL DATE
NIGHT ORGANISED AND YOU’RE LOOKING FOR
SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT TO GO, OR ARE
MEETING UP WITH FRIENDS FOR A CATCH UP
OVER A FEW DRINKS. WHATEVER YOUR REASON
FOR SEEKING OUT SOMEWHERE CLASSY TO
HEAD TO, A SHOPPING CENTRE PROBABLY ISN’T
GOING TO BE THAT HIGH ON YOUR LIST, IF ON
THE LIST AT ALL...
WELL, IT’S TIME TO THROW AWAY THAT LIST
AND BANISH ANY PRECONCEPTIONS BECAUSE
YOU HAVEN’T EXPERIENCED EVERYTHING THAT
BLUEWATER HAS TO OFFER WHEN THE SHOPS
ARE CLOSING AND NIGHT FALLS.
There are over 50 different places to eat at
Bluewater. From burgers to bruschetta, pizza
and prawn cocktail there is sure to be
something that appeals. It was Spanish
restaurant Tapas Revolution that caught our
eye on a recent night out; bright, vibrant
colours and placed right in the middle of the
busy area right by Bluewater’s Showcase
Cinema, it is a friendly and welcoming
restaurant that’s ideal for enjoying a delicious,
authentic meal before (or after) seeing the
latest blockbuster.
The wonderful thing about tapas (and Tapas
Revolution) is that you can mix and match a
variety of different dishes to create your perfect
meal. If you’re hungry, try four or five different
plates for each person. If you’re having a light
meal, just take two or three. We chose a
number of different Spanish dishes, many
recommended by our helpful waitress,
including chorizo a la sidra – perfectly cooked
Spanish sausage in cider; torreznos con mojo
dulce – crispy pork belly with sweet and spicy
sauce; gambas al ajillo – tiger prawns with
garlic and chilli oil cooked in the traditional
terracotta clay pot; and alitas de pollo a la miel
y limón – marinated crispy chicken wings
with a lemon and honey dressing. Everything
was cooked to order, appearing as if by magic
from an almost invisible kitchen. We even
managed to have a cheeky pud (two, actually)
because any attempt at resisting a gooey
chocolate brownie and a traditional churros
with a chocolate dip proved completely futile.
After we had had our fill at Tapas Revolution,
we made our way just down the way to the
Showcase Cinema de Lux where we had
tickets to see Game Night. Perhaps more
exciting than the film was that fact that we
were going to experience one of the cinema’s
incredible new screens – the XPlus has a wall-
to-wall screen that stands at almost 64-feet
wide and 27-feet high, complete surround
sound and the most amazing fully
customisable reclining seats. Game Night was
a great film, made all the more mesmerising
by such superb surroundings and total
comfort.
All of this makes a simple trip to the cinema
into an event to remember at Bluewater. You
can watch a movie in blissful comfort, not
miss a second of the action and have a
wonderful meal and a few cocktails all under
one roof. Five stars!
