EDUCATION WELCOME TO CLAREMONT SENIOR SCHOOL FOUNDED IN 2011, CLAREMONT SENIOR SCHOOL IS A QUITE REMARKABLE SCHOOL; UNBRIDLED BY THE PAST, HIGHLY PROGRESSIVE AND FORWARD THINKING, YET BUILT UPON A FOUNDATION OF TRADITIONAL VALUES, CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE AND A PRO-ACTIVE, COMMON-SENSE ATTITUDE. The school was originally founded in Hove, in 1925, but moved to its current site in St Leonards-on-Sea in 1945 when it amalgamated with Langley Place School. The building, a magnificent Norman Shaw- designed mansion house, was built in 1880s for the Ebden family and was originally named Baldslow Place. Claremont has extensive modern facilities, including a purpose-built theatre, dance studio and assembly hall, a floodlit all-weather sports pitch, an indoor sports hall, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and dedicated facilities for science, music, art, French and IT. The school’s ethos is simple: to provide an exceptional learning environment alongside top quality teaching and guidance that allows every individual student to flourish and discover where their personal skills and interests lie. Since the school was founded, it is proud to have established an inspirational programme of academic and co-curricular opportunities. These have been totally inspired by the students who have joined the school, as well as the exceptional team of teaching and administrative staff. 118 At the heart of this school lies one clear aim: to develop a positive attitude throughout the whole school community. Claremont is not driven solely by academic results in the conventional sense, but works hard to instill the committed attitude that will lead to exceptional results for all of their students. SIXTH FORM Never has the role of a Sixth Form been more important than it is today. In an era when the options available to a school leaver are diverse and inspiring, yet also challenging, a school’s duty is clear: to prepare, advise and guide students so that they can enter the next stage of their life confident and equipped to thrive and progress. The Claremont Sixth Form experience is designed with this knowledge at its very heart – they seek to prepare young men and women, both inside and outside the classroom, so that they are equipped with knowledge and the ability to use it effectively. PREP SCHOOL Claremont Preparatory School is an independent day school for boys and girls, aged 4 to 13 years. Many pupils join directly from the school’s own Nursery School, which is located on the same site and caters for children from 12 months old. “Claremont has a genuinely holistic programme and we have the highest expectation of all of our students, regardless of their ability,” says headmaster, Giles Perrin. “We expect them to fully contribute to all aspects of school life, whether in the classroom, through our service projects, or within our sporting or creative programmes. Claremont remains proudly non-selective and yet it attracts students of the highest calibre. When the Ofsted inspectors came and asked me how we were managing to deliver such fantastic results, they discovered what we already knew: that Claremont school has a unique atmosphere, the relationship between staff and pupils is second to none, and the support and care that is given to each individual is exceptional. The resulting inspection report graded Claremont as Outstanding in every department.” To view the outstanding provision on offer at Claremont School please call 01580 830396 to book a tour with the headmaster. www.claremontschool.co.uk
