MAKE ME BLUSH …
Soft and romantic, the enduring colour for weddings in summer 2017 is blush pink, otherwise known as dusty rose, which continues to make an appearance at so many weddings due to its‘ mixability’. Lighter colourways of blush can easily be mixed in an elegant pastel palette, stronger tones can be teamed with mint, corals and ivories for a girly yet graceful palette, whilst mid-range hues look fantastic against metallics, such as rose gold for bold, statement wedding designs.
Blush is being incorporated in all kinds of floristry schemes, especially with the blush rose, which currently underpins the wedding market. Such varieties as‘ Quicksand’ and‘ Menta’ have a beautifully soft vintage quality and look especially sophisticated when teamed with white gypsophila.
Similarly, blush wedding dresses are a feminine and unique way to add a hint of colour to your wedding dress without going over the top. The trend has become increasingly popular among brides and their entourage for those who want to incorporate this colour into their dress designs.
FEE FI FO FUN ….
Whereas 2016 was all about miniature items – food, favours and flowers – this year we are seeing a‘ growing’ trend. Giant things are all the rage, whether it’ s huge martini glasses that live dancers can sway in, giant versions of classic garden games such as Jenga, Connect 4 and dominoes, or giant feature balloons. Many weddings are now going‘ big’ in order to make a statement.
Giant letters made of flowers or lights continue to be a theme, whether spelling out couple’ s initials, or simply the word‘ LOVE’ to provide a sensational and personalised background to many a dancefloor.
DOING IT FOR THE KIDS …
A wedding can be a great way to incorporate some childish nostalgia and much like the trend for giant items, many brides and grooms are embracing their inner child for their big day( even when the children are left at home!). Bouncy castles and inflatables for grown-ups are making an appearance at many festivalstyle weddings, alongside the stalwarts of sweetie tables, candy floss machines and ice cream vans.
Some couples are taking this to the next level by providing‘ kids’ packs’ for their adult guests as favours, which include such items as quizzes about the couple,‘ colour-in’ illustrations of the bride and groom, eye-spy photo lists and personalised sparklers for when the sun goes down.
COME FLY WITH ME …
Imagine the breathtaking view of seeing your wedding venue from the air, when all of a sudden the camera swoops down to film your crowd of guests cheering and laughing as you exit from your ceremony. Now your wedding video can look something more akin to a Spielberg movie, with the increasing demand for drone videography.
These image-capturing aircrafts can film and photograph from a unique aerial perspective capturing key moments of the day – such as videoing a special moment between the bride and groom, or perhaps photographing a big group of guests from above. Drone filming can look so spectacular, because the footage can really reveal the grandeur of a wedding venue and its surroundings.
