KENT WINNERS NAMED AT IoD’s DIRECTOR OF
THE YEAR AWARDS
Kent directors scooped top prizes at The Institute of Director's annual
Director of the Year Awards for London and South East 2017.
Matthew Pack, CEO of
Holiday Extras (Hythe);
Stephen Rogers,
managing director of
Swanstaff Recruitment
(Dartford); Sue Nelson,
CEO and founder of
Breakthrough Funding (Ashford); Paul Wetherfield, director of global
associates (Sittingbourne); and Luke Quilter, CEO of Sleeping Giant
Media (Folkestone) all picked up Highly Commended awards for their
categories.
Paul Wetherfield commented: "To be recognised amongst such a talented
bunch of UK successful business leaders is just amazing and such an
honour; it's recognition that I am on the right path, that following my
heart and doing what I love and what I am passionate about really works.

EVENING STANDARD AWARDS WIN FOR
KENT HOUSEBUILDER
Kent-based housebuilder Cox Developments (in association with Cox
Restoration) charmed the judges of the Evening Standard New Homes
Awards and have come away with a win for their inspiring development
of six homes in Challock, Old Clockhouse Green.
After entering Old Clockhouse Green into the Best Small Development
category, the site was very quickly shortlisted and has subsequently
come out on top, beating at least 10 other leading small developments.
David Cox, Director of Cox Developments, gives his reaction to winning
this prestigious award: “We are thoroughly thrilled to have won the
Evening Standard Awards with a development that is so close to our
hearts. It is a huge achievement for us and a huge acknowledgement
and complement to the hard work of everyone involved.”
Inspired by Cox Developments’ passion for the local area, these now
award-winning homes sit comfortably within their vernacular, resulting
in a collection of incredible village-style homes that surpass the needs
of modern living. All six homes are now sold, and Cox Developments
are looking forward to creating new ventures with this incredible
accolade under their belt.
The awards, hosted by television presenter Declan Curry, celebrate the
exemplary leaders who are doing great work across London and the
South East of England, rewarding individuals who display
professionalism, diligence and creativity to inspire employees.
Alan Fitzwater, director of regional engagement at the IoD said of the
awards: "2017 saw a record number of entries made in the IoD South
East & London awards, with over 500 businesses being initially considered
for our 10 categories, the standard remains as high as ever. The award
finalists represent the best of business across the South East, with SME's,
International businesses and start-ups all well-represented."
KENT DEVELOPER, QUINN ESTATES, DIGS DEEP FOR HERNE BAY AIRSHOW
Kent developer, Quinn Estates,
based in Canterbury, has pledged
£12,500 to the Herne Bay
Airshow, following an appeal
from its organisers for local
businesses to fill the £25,000
shortfall. The free show, which
attracted 80,000 people last year,
will be headlined by the Red
Arrows, Eurofighter and Battle of
Britain Memorial Flight on
Saturday 19th August for the third
successive year.
