Quarterhouse shares the Creative Foundation's dedication to enabling the regeneration of Folkestone through creative activity. Located overlooking the English Channel on the coast of Folkestone, the venue hosts a variety of shows including comedy, ballet, live music and even wrestling. This privately funded theatre is managed by two professional directors. The patrons are Judi Dench, David Suchet and Julian Fellowes. It offers exciting, engaging, innovative acts and arts for the general public, and for the students at the university. One of its main aims is to bring art to the people, and to foster confidence and empowerment in young people. Gulbenkian consists of a 340-seat theatre, a 300-seat cinema and a café in which more informal, cabaret style acts perform.
