THERE ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE HYPE AROUND THE‘ NEXT BIG THING’, ESPECIALLY IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY. FROM WONDER PRODUCTS THAT CLAIM TO DELIVER EPIC RESULTS TO TREATMENTS THAT AIM TO REJUVENATE AND REVITALIZE, AND OF COURSE AGE-DEFYING MIRACLES. SO TO SAY I WAS INTRIGUED TO INVESTIGATE THE GROWING TREND FOR EYELASH EXTENSIONS WAS AN UNDERSTATEMENT, BUT TO DO SO WITH EAST KENT’ S LASH PIONEER AND FOUNDER OF LASH CC, INGRID CARTER, WAS THE PROVERBIAL ICING ON THIS LASH CAKE! Arriving at Lash CC’ s inaugural salon in Broadstairs I was full of excitement and a little trepidation. I mean, as a lash extension novice, just what are lash extensions? What’ s the difference between the different types? How long do they last? What is a lash menu? Where do I even begin?
Well, my fears were truly allayed, for Ingrid was not only the epitome of professionalism, knowledge, and lash perfectionism, but was also genuinely welcoming and friendly.
Having fallen under her own lash extension spell whilst working in corporate London, she had become increasingly frustrated with the varying standards, substandard products, insufficient training, and poor service in the growing lash industry.
Loving the look and confidence that great lash extensions can bring and seeing a gap in the market, the dream to found the leading lash brand was formed.
Fast forward through some significant research, engagement with industry pioneers to secure the best products, technology and techniques – not to mention accredited training with the country’ s leading‘ lash artist’ – and Lash CC was formed, and lucky for us, opened in Kent.
Ingrid explained that lash extensions began with classic lashes, where one lash extension is applied to each natural lash. The result is a natural, longer and slightly fuller effect lash and is a perfect starting point for lash extension virgins who want to try a more subtle look.
But of course as the industry is growing and trends change, the latest look to try is the volume lashes or‘ Russian Volume’( after their Eastern European roots) – and Lash CC is currently the only dedicated practitioner in Thanet.
Available with either natural, impact or dramatic results, uber-fine lashes are applied in fans to each natural lash, to suit the needs of each client and provide a perfect look.
So to my personal consultation whereby factors such as eye shape, regular makeup useage, aims and lifestyle are taken into consideration before lash recommendations are made and a patch test is carried out, having settled on a set of natural Russian volume lashes I counted down the days to my lash appointment.
The session was a relaxing, albeit lengthy, affair, beginning with a lash shampoo and thorough cleansing and priming – a full 20 minutes of preparation. As Ingrid was keen to point out, the appointment is about 2 1 / 2 hours long, for good reason. Not only is there the best prep to achieve the best results; her application is a painstaking, perfectionist approach to applying hand prepared fans to each natural lash – of which there are in the region of 120-150 on each eye! The extensions, with the right aftercare, can last up to 5-6 weeks!
Her main warning? Avoid anyone who says that they can deliver lash results in less time – you just can’ t properly!
And so of course to the end result … well see for yourself in the pictures. I am the proud owner of natural looking voluminous lashes, and I love them! Not only is my morning routine quicker— no more mascara for me – they really do enhance my eyes and appearance; the ultimate confidence boost!
