Bricks Britannia will open daily from 1st-17th April in addition to 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th April and 1st-4th May 2017. The centrepiece of the exhibition will be an impressive eight-metre long model of the iconic Flying Scotsman – the most famous steam locomotive together with three Pullman carriages!
See 30 stunning models, created solely from LEGO ® bricks, which charts the history of Britain from the Neolithic Stonehenge through to the supersonic age of Concorde. The impressive models were created by Bright Bricks( as featured on Channel 4’ s Inside Lego at Christmas) and use hundreds of thousands of LEGO bricks. This is the first time this amazing exhibition has been on show in the UK.

FABULOUS 40s AT THE KENT & EAST SUSSEX RAILWAY

Take a step back in time with a visit to the annual 1940’ s Weekend at the Kent & East Sussex Railway on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st May 2017.
On arrival pick up your free identity card before immersing yourself in the nostalgic 40’ s atmosphere created by the re-enactors, live performers and authentic 1940’ s displays.
On both days, subject to weather, there will be an exciting Spitfire flying display at Tenterden station.
Visiting locomotive Foxcote Manor will be one of the steam locomotives taking passengers between Tenterden and Bodiam stations with services leaving every 45 minutes.
Activities at Tenterden Station will include singing from popular 40’ s group My Favourite Things and energetic dancing from the Cinque Ports Lindy Hoppers. Visit vintage stalls selling authentic 40’ s clothes and accessories and perhaps book an appointment with the guest hairdresser and barber to complete your 1940’ s makeover( additional cost applies). Visit the RAF station operations room to see how the plotting table would have been operated during the Battle of Britain. Learn how Air Sea Rescue helped airmen forced to ditch in the Channel, and talk to the ARP Air Raid Precaution teams for an insight into life on the home front. Peruse the collection of vintage military and civilian vehicles.
At Bodiam Station there are interactive land army displays and activities. The younger members of the family will enjoy the arts and crafts and can even learn how to milk a cow! Costumed re-enactors, military and civilian vehicles all add to the atmosphere. Explore the Desert Rats encampment display filled with authentic kit, weapons and a variety of jeeps. Listen to popular tunes from the era sung by two 40’ s singers Pete Wayre and Miss Holiday Swing. Vintage Allsorts will provide a pop-up tearoom and a free Heritage Bus Service will run between Bodiam Station and Bodiam Castle.
