MOTORS
THE PEUGEOT 3008 CROSSOVER cont.
environmental footprint to a minimum, through optimised aerodynamics, weight optimisation, the use of low rolling resistance tyres and the adoption, eventually, of the hybrid technology currently being developed by the PSA Peugeot Citroën group – HYbrid4.
The T84 project was, therefore, destined to become a synthesis of several existing body shapes. It represents a new and original concept in the market of " spacious " vehicles, a true " Crossover " of a new kind.
The architecture of the 3008 successfully combines elements of a conventional hatchback with a forward-positioned front windscreen, with features borrowed from the world of the MPV and SUV, such as its split tailgate, modularity, spacious interior, large side windows and raised driving position.
The styling of the vehicle is a combination of a number of different design cues. At the front, the traditional Peugeot styling signatures have evolved to adapt to the car’ s larger size, while at the rear the wide sculpted flanks help to create an appearance that the car is“ glued” to the road.
Depending on the individual trim level, the vehicle can also have a number of“ off-road” styling features, in particular, inserts for the sills and lower panels.
THE PEUGEOT 3008“ CROSSES OVER” ON THE INSIDE AS WELL
Inside its spacious interior, the driver benefits from an ergonomic and particularly luxurious driving position, that is reminiscent of the world of the luxury coupé and also has some similarity to the cockpit of an aircraft.
Passengers also enjoy a generous and extremely comfortable passenger compartment( in terms of design, seats, interior noise levels, etc); therefore, each occupant will feel naturally at ease. For even greater interior brightness and visibility, a large glass panoramic roof measuring 1.60 m2 is available as standard on the Exclusive version, and as an option on the Sport version.
It also benefits from a“ Multiflex” interior that can be converted at will thanks to its 3- position load area floor and automatic folding rear seats. With the latter folded, together with the back of the front passenger seat, the 3008 provides a perfectly flat load floor area from the lower tailgate to the front fascia panel.
The load volume under the parcel shelf then increases from 512 litres( or 432 dm3 in the VDA standard) to 1604 litres( or 1241 dm3 VDA) to the back of the front seats.
To add to the comfort and safety of all its occupants, the driver can benefit, as standard or as an option, from a range of equipment rarely if ever seen in this market segment:
• A Head Up Display
• Distance Alert( helps the driver to respect a safe driving distance between the vehicle in front according to a particular speed)
• Automatic Electric Parking Brake
• Hill Assist
Also a range of telematic systems with satellite navigation- Peugeot Connect Navigation( RNEG) or Peugeot Connect 3-D Media Navigation( NG4) are available.
