DIGITAL MARKETING : THE YEAR AHEAD …
BY LUKE QUILTER , CEO AT SLEEPING GIANT MEDIA
There ’ s often so much going on , that it is difficult to know where you are with your digital marketing . We need to know what the year ahead holds , and where to focus our efforts .
Although lots of changes will happen in digital marketing across 2017 , here are three areas I feel will be the most important for brands and businesses to utilise in order to meet their customer ' s needs .
MOBILE There are now more Google searches made on mobile than from desktops . This year , Google will be rolling out an update to the way they rank websites . If yours isn ’ t mobile optimised , you are likely to be negatively affected .
VIDEO There are 400 hours of video uploaded every 60 seconds to YouTube . The viewer statistics continue to increase and it is the world ' s second largest search engine behind Google . If you aren ’ t on YouTube producing content , you are missing out on a great opportunity to meet new customers .
VOICE This is the one to jump on now … With the introduction of Siri and devices like Amazon Alexa , people are using their voice to : search , buy things , and listen to music . In the US , 20 % of searches from a mobile device are already voice search . This is a trend that is likely to increase in the coming years as technology improves and devices are more accessible . So , get optimising your marketing for voice !
