WELCOME TO CANTERBURY STAGECOACH PERFORMING ARTS SCHOOL
WELCOME TO STAGECOACH CANTERBURY WHERE WE PROVIDE QUALITY PART-TIME TRAINING IN THE PERFORMING ARTS FOR CHILDREN AGED 4-18YRS. OUR AIM IS TO NURTURE AND DEVELOP YOUNG POTENTIAL THROUGH SINGING, ACTING AND DANCE CLASSES IN CANTERBURY, STRETCHING YOUNG IMAGINATIONS AND BUILDING CONFIDENCE. WE ENSURE THAT EACH CHILD GETS THE MOST OUT OF THEIR EXPERIENCE BY BUILDING LIFE SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE WHILE HAVING LOTS OF FUN. STAGECOACH CANTERBURY OPENED IN 1996 AND MANY OF OUR STUDENTS HAVE GONE ON TO ACHIEVE GREAT THINGS.
We offer early stages classes for 4 to 6 year olds. Early Stages classes run alongside the main Stagecoach schools, where young people learn skills in each of the three Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing and drama, so it is an easy step when it is time to transfer to the next stage.
Our Main Stages classes for 6 to 18 year olds are split in three age appropriate groups, where young people learn new skills in each of the complementary Musical Theatre disciplines of singing, dancing and drama. We nurture the shy and apprehensive, until they find their feet and voice, whilst at the same time developing and channelling those with bundles of talent, confidence and energy. We believe in the potential of every child!
In March 2015 one of the school’ s youngsters, then aged 9 years old Mia Drummond, gained the role of Young Fiona in the national professional tour of Shrek, The Musical.
The School continues its highly successful examination work with a 100 % pass rate in both the Acting and Musical Theatre Examinations of the internationally recognised
LAMDA organisation. With over 100 entrants to date, 56 candidates have gained Distinction passes and a further 40 passed with Merit, many of whom took the highest Acting Awards of Bronze, Silver and Gold medal standard.
The school presents an annual show and for the other two terms follows a theme such as“ The Swing Era”,“ Disney”,“ The American Songbook”,“ The 50s” and at the end of the term the school presents a demonstration of Drama, including modern plays and children’ s versions of Shakespeare’ s Tempest, Macbeth,
Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’ s Dream, as well as singing and dancing reflecting the term’ s theme in front of parents, other family members and friends on the stage at the Simon Langton Girls Grammar School. Children can receive two week taster sessions free of any fees to see if they like the activities before they decide to register or not. Any term fees are only payable once a child has enrolled fully.
