GOWNS GALORE with DEMELZA
BRIDES-TO-BE NO LONGER NEED TO BREAK THE BANK IN ORDER TO LOOK STUNNING ON THEIR BIG DAY.
At Demelza Hospice Care for Children’ s charity shop in Canterbury, you can pick up a preloved or never-worn gown at a fraction of its original cost – or create a bespoke gown of your own.
The elegant basement room at 18a and 18b Burgate is bursting with over 300 styles and sizes of bridal gowns, plus a wide choice of bridesmaid or prom dresses and wedding accessories.
Dresses are carefully selected by Canterbury shop manager Lauren Ashby, a former jewellery designer with a fine eye for fashion, and can be altered to fit by volunteer seamstress Angela Sandey.
Prices start from just £ 80, rising to £ 500 for brand new designer gowns. You’ ll almost certainly find some big-name labels nestling on the racks.
The shop offers a personal service for brides-to-be and their families and friends – they can pop in to browse or book an appointment and have the whole department to themselves.
“ I think it’ s such an amazing way to donate money to charity while getting a wonderful dress for yourself,” said Lauren.
Demelza Hospice Care for Children provides vital care to seriously ill babies, children and young people and support to their wider families in Kent and across the South East.
