The Granville Theatre celebrates
10 years of pantomime with
Aladdin
The Granville Theatre, Ramsgate, invites you to celebrate
its 10th annual family pantomime, which this year will be
the popular tale of Aladdin. Its magic carpet will be unrolled
in mid-December and flies on until the early New Year.
The classic tale opens in streets of Old Peking
where the poor Aladdin daydreams of meeting
and marrying the beautiful Princess Jasmine
when he is supposed to be busy working for his
mother, Widow Twankey, in her laundry. Her
other son Wishee Washee also spends his time
avoiding work and hiding from policemen Ping
and Pong. The plot thickens when Abanazar, an
evil magician from Egypt, turns up pretending to
be Aladdin’s uncle and promises him great riches
if he will enter the Cave of Mysteries to retrieve
an old lamp.
The ancient tale of mystery unfolds in a series of
colourful scenes filled with all the essential
ingredients of traditional pantomime including
hilarious comedy moments, lavish and outrageous
costumes, special effects, spectacular dance
routines and songs that will have everyone
clapping and joining in.
As ever, audience participation is essential
throughout, so come prepared to have a good
time, and this in“Genie”ous tale won’t leave you
disappointed.
Tickets for Aladdin start at £12 with concessions
