Sixth Form Success
“ We achieve excellent results at GCSE and A Level, representing a lot of hard work and dedication. Our motto challenges each and every student to dare to do their very best.”- Paula Anderson, Headteacher
Our Sixth Formers enjoy a recently refurbished common room allowing them to relax and study together. In addition, our Sixth Form facilities extend to St. Catherine’ s cottage which has its own kitchen, computer suite and two teaching rooms. This allows the students some measure of independence and privilege but at the same time they remain an important part of the school.
Sixth Formers have opportunities for leadership roles including Head Pupil, Deputy Head Pupil, House Captains and Chaplaincy and Charity Prefect. The Sixth Form team work with the younger pupils to develop their student voice via Student Council.
We recognise that every pupil is special and play to their strengths and talents by offering a range of extra-curricular opportunities for a well-rounded education. This gives pupils the opportunity to try new things, explore and be creative
Crucially, our Sixth Form gives students the necessary skills to enable them to make welljudged choices in their life. We strive to ensure that all students achieve their potential in their academic studies in order to give them the best chance of progress to the next phase in their lives. Students are given every opportunity to develop their personal skills through a tailored enrichment programme, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and our own community programme. As young adults, they will establish a different relationship with their teachers and the expectations placed upon them will prepare them for higher education or employment. We encourage active involvement in school life and the wider community in order to nurture and develop the essential skills of teamwork and initiative.
“ Here at Bishop Challoner we pride ourselves on working tirelessly to deliver these core values. If students work hard at their studies we have every confidence of achieving success together.” Jon Bryson, Head of Sixth Form
