welcome
Celebrating insideKENT’s 5th birthday
If months' success rates were
judged solely on the age-old
‘work hard play hard’ ethos,
July would be up there with the
best of them. Kicking things off
with a party (despite Operation
Stack's best sabotage
attempts), the insideKENT
team – and invited guests –
celebrated five years with a
Champagne-fuelled affair in
Mercure Hythe Imperial Hotel
and Spa's grand Ballroom.
Take a peek at what went on
over on page 18 – and do not
miss the incredible cake; YES,
that's a cake!
Now August is eagerly waving us in and I'm undecided how I feel. On
one hand, it's high summer and there's a huge amount of fun to be
had, but on the other, it's like a premature guest that you want to arrive
– but not in haste. The summer days are running away too quickly for
my liking, and I plan to savour every moment by stocking up my diary
with the best of Kent's events (p35).
Looking for ways to fill the days and entertain your little 'cherubs' over
the six-week break? We've got a whole host of suggestions in our
UK-wide summer activities feature (p111), as well as fun days out in the
county – from the romantic Hever Castle (p118) to cooling lidos (p125).
But it's not all about the little ones; make sure you set some time aside
to indulge in our chock-full food and drink section (p49). From the
quintessential cream tea (p65) to our very important DIY home bar
concept (p73), we have it covered. I have a sneaking suspicion you'll
thank me for the latter come September!
Also in the calendar was the spectacular Leeds Castle Classical Concert
– an unmissable event, which 37 years on, never fails to please the
10,000-strong, Prosecco-drinking, flag-wav
