ARTS+ENTERTAINMENT St Lawrence College St Lawrence College is delighted to be sponsoring the Turner Contemporary exhibition, Self: Image and Identity, which runs from January to May 2015. The partnership between the school and the gallery demonstrates St Lawrence’s commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for its pupils. All Junior School pupils will be visiting the gallery for tailored workshops during an enrichment week next term, as well as field trips by Senior School pupil groups. Parents will be invited to an exclusive event at Turner Contemporary, Celebrating the Arts at St Lawrence College, which will showcase the school’s Art, Music and Drama within the gallery’s impressive space, before enjoying a private viewing of the exhibition. The Arts are thriving at St Lawrence, with Drama and Performing Arts enhanced by the 500-seat theatre and an exciting and ever-growing programme of events. The promotion of and participation in Music is encouraged in every part of school and at every level, with the philosophy that music is for everyone. Many pupils have individual instrumental lessons and there is a wealth of musical activities on offer including choirs, bands, and orchestras. Even the very youngest pupils benefit from the school’s exceptional facilities and are taught by specialist subject teachers. The children are able to experience a wide range of Music, Drama, Art, and Design Technology opportunities from a young age. Pupils are introduced to a variety of styles, mediums and processes in both Art and Design and Design Technology, with A-Level Photography an additional option. Plans are at an advanced stage for further investment in an exciting new building for Science, Art, and DT, with state-of-the art equipment. Scholarships are awarded at various levels to pupils who can demonstrate outstanding ability in Music and the Arts.
