Winter Pruning
Courses // 18 Nov
Children's Nearly New Sale
// 22 Nov
Your fruit trees have cropped
well this year, but how can
you give them a helping hand
to do the same at the next
harvest? Winter pruning is the
answer and experts at East
Malling Research are
delivering a series of short
courses to help the keen novice, as well as the accomplished amateur
gardener, get it right. The half-day and full-day courses will advise on winter
pruning of apple, pear, plum and cherry trees and are to be held at the
Grade-1 listed Bradbourne House, and include the Hatton Fruit Garden on
the estate near East Malling. The half-day winter pruning course for people
with little or no experience, or who are simply totally confused about pruning
fruit trees, costs £45. Aimed at the more experienced gardener, the fullday course costs £75, with a light lunch included.
The next beginner half-day course will be held on 18th November.

hopes to raise funds for Spadework,
a local charity that bridges the gap
for adults with learning difficulties
and other disabilities. Refreshments
will be available, along with many
trader stalls, all from local businesses
in the area. With an emphasis on
Christmas, sales at this time of the
year are a fantastic way for parents
to recycle children's items, and a
way for those on a budget to buy
great quality items at a fraction of
the cost. The next sale will be held in
March 2015
