An Evening of
Burlesque
// 8 Nov
Ed Kluz:
The Lost House Revisited
// 13 Sep – 13 Dec
Flushed with
success, and now
entering its fourth
fabulous year, the
world’s original
touring burlesque
spectacular is
about to hit town.
Officially, Britain’s
biggest burlesque
extravaganza – a quarter of a million people have now seen this show – An
Evening of Burlesque is responsible for exposing the cream of the West
End of London’s thriving burlesque scene to the world. Not only has the
ever-so-cheeky production revealed the secrets of the art of burlesque to
delighted audiences across the UK, it has also thrilled theatregoers at the
swishest venues throughout Europe as well. For over-18s only, it boasts
that its success is built on a combination of sultry vocals, breathtaking
choreography, mischief, magic, frivolity and fun.
8pm. Price: £23.50-£24.50.

In his first solo museum exhibition,
Ed Kluz reimagines the architecture
of the now demolished or derelict
British country houses. Marking
40 years since the V&A’s landmark 1974 exhibition, The Destruction of the
Country House, Kluz focuses our attention once again on the vanished
architecture of these lost houses and the hold it still has on the popular
imagination. Presenting a body of some of his largest collages to date, Kluz
explores the gap between the original, often unconventional, structures of
the past and what remains of them today. All works exhibited at Mascalls
Gallery are available for sale.
Tues-Thurs, 10am-5pm; Fri-Sat, 11am-4pm. Price: Free admission.

Pet Portraits at The Bull Hotel
// 24 Oct – Ongoing
We are a nation of pet lovers. Whether they're
large, small, fluffy, or feathered, we love our
pets. This was certainly confirmed when
Victor ia Ballard, a local self-taught artist who
specialises in pencil portraits, put out an
invite through social media offering to draw
family pets for her forthcoming display at The Bull Hotel in Wrotham. This
is the second time Victoria has been invited to display her pencil portraits
at the newly Michelin-listed hotel and restaurant. The previous event proved
so successful that it seemed only right that much-loved family pets would
be the subject of her latest display. This new exhibition will showcase 15
pencil-drawn portraits consisting of dogs (including one guide dog), a lizard,
a parrot, chickens, a tortoise, some cats, a couple of horses, and not
forgetting, Percy the alpaca. The recent press preview evening was a huge
success, with Marc the Vet, the resident vet on BBC Breakfast and This
Morning, turning up to support the big reveal. In addition, all proceeds from
the evening's raffle went to Pup Aid, Marc's chosen charity.
Price: Free admission. Victoria can be contacted at
[email protected] or on 07711 038484.
