Let's just get this out of the way at the
beginning – how did the name Coco and the
Butterfields come about?
'CoCo Butterfield' was the random pseudonym
Tom Twyman (the band's frontman) created for
himself before conceding to join social networking
site, Facebook. In something of a natural leap,
Tom then established the CoCo and the
Butterfields' Facebook page, which while evolving,
was to be the band's first online home. Since
then, we have amassed 10,000 Facebook fans
and the name has stuck.
How did you get together as a band, and did
you set out to create a new style of music,
or did it happen organically?
The band members met via the Kent busking
circuit, as we have all, at some stage, been a
busking regular on the streets of Canterbury.
The innovative style of music came about
organically, along with the mix of distinct
personalities, musical preferences and
backgrounds each member brought to the table.
