ARTS Get Creative! cont. Floristry Learn the principles of modern floristry on this course, including grouping, balance and shape, and the basic skills you need to create bouquets and floral arrangements. Each week there will be a new project to work on and take home with you at the end of the session. Pottery & Ceramics Kent Adult Education's pottery and ceramics courses will help you learn and develop pottery skills – for example, pinching, coiling and throwing on the wheel. You will gain the hands-on experience that comes with working on your own individual projects, and you can take home your work too. As well as the latter, the centres also run a range of ‘project courses’, which allow you to focus on creating a specific piece, such as garden pots or figures. Silversmithing & Jewellery Making The silversmith and jewellery making courses available enable you to work with hand tools to design and construct a range of pieces using silver, gold and copper, plus other metals and glass or beads. You will be taken through the process, from design and basic metalworking, to the finished article. Many of the courses focus on a particular item, such as earrings, bangles or cufflinks – however, you can select a course where you can choose the item you want to make. Soft Furnishing & Upholstery Do you have a scruffy old chair or stool that is in desperate need of a facelift, but an upholsterer is just too expensive? Learn how to transform your furniture into something beautiful by joining one of the centres' upholstery courses; the experienced tutors will take you through each step of the process, and teach you the skills that you need to excel. Sugarcraft & Cake Decorating From cupcakes to wedding cakes, Kent Adult Education's courses will help you to create beautiful sugarcraft decorations and iced cakes. For those who are looking to take their interest further and start up a business, they also offer qualifications in the subject. CREATIVE WRITING Creative Writing Do you sometimes want to express yourself on paper, but need some help doing just that? Then a creative writing course is for you. You will be introduced to a number of techniques, including fictional and autobiography writing, as well as exploring the links between the two forms of writing. You can also share achievements and ideas with others, and learn to give and receive constructive analysis of your written work. 28 Kent Adult Education's 2014/15 courses have just been released, and you can book now at www.kentadulteducation.co.uk, in their centres, or over the phone on 0845 606 5606.
