FOOD+DRINK Villagers Fine Sausages Villagers Fine Sausages opened in October 1995 by Ron Etheridge. TV programmes such as The Generation Game with Jim Davidson, Des and Mel, Loose Women, Carlton Country, The Big Breakfast with Johnny Vaughan and recently Best of Both Worlds with Kirsty Allsopp. After preparing for 10 months and convincing his parents it would be ok, the third bank he approached backed Ron’s plan. He opened up (nervously) one Thursday morning with over 40 varieties to offer, but worryingly, never saw anyone till lunchtime. After 18 roller coaster years, Ron has a great team and has established Villager’s Sausages to offer a great handmade product on the premises, in front of the customer, with nothing to hide. Despite the rocky start, Ron’s business has thrived, supplying clients such as the Natural History Museum, The Wellington Club Knightsbridge. In addition he has appeared on They have over 200 varieties under their belt and offer 70-80 weekly.
