This Christmas, step into a fairytale adventure at Scotney Castle. Between 21 November and 3 January( excluding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), explore magical decorations, twinkling light illuminations and lots more at this stunning heritage property in Kent.
Discover a different fairytale in every room of the Victorian mansion house, suitably decked out for the holiday season. From towering beanstalks and glittering mermaids to gingerbread houses and golden eggs, each space will be filled with seasonal cheer, sparkling lights and surprises inspired by classic fairytales. Keep an eye out for decorations inspired by treasures from the Scotney collection, too.
New for 2026, the adventure will continue outside with a free Gingerbread Man Trail.
Get together as a family and find the Gingerbread Men who have escaped around the grounds. Use the trail sheet to spot the festive characters hiding on the estate, with fun and festive activities along the way.
Back by popular demand are Scotney’ s bookable Late Night & Lights events on 12, 13 and 18- 21 December. As darkness falls, the mansion house will glow with illuminations, sparkling decorations and beautifully lit trees, creating a memorable evening atmosphere.
Visit the decorated house, toast marshmallows over the fire, browse for Christmas gifts in the shop and enjoy seasonal treats and warming drinks in the cosy Coach House Tea Room. For those special gatherings with friends and family, celebrate with a delicious bookable Christmas lunch between 30 November and 18 December, all within the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the Coach House Tea Room.
Already looking ahead to the new year? Discover the secrets of the Grade I listed moated Old Castle on a behind-the-scenes tour. This ancient monument will have recently reopened to visitors following conservation work in the autumn, which makes it the perfect opportunity to explore this much-loved part of Scotney’ s picturesque landscape.
