NORTH KENT COLLEGES GROUP: BIG AMBITIONS AND BRILLIANT OPPORTUNITIES
What if taking the next step in education meant cooking in a real restaurant, stepping into the spotlight on stage, creating the latest trending hairstyle or caring for everything from horses and reptiles to fish and farm animals? At North Kent Colleges Group, these are just some of the ways an interest can grow into a future career.
For young people in Year 11 and anyone looking to build skills in something they love, college opens up a world of possibilities. With four colleges across Dartford, Gravesend, Hadlow and Tonbridge, there are opportunities to do something amazing close to home.
North Kent Colleges Group( NKC Group) combines fantastic facilities, experienced tutors and strong links with local employers to help students prepare for life beyond education. Learning is practical and connected to the real world, helping students develop the skills, confidence and experience employers value.
Each college has its own personality and areas of expertise. At NKC Dartford College, creativity takes centre stage with students exploring performance, fashion and creative arts through facilities including the acclaimed Miskin Theatre. There is much more on offer too, including hair and beauty, health and social care, business, computing, sport, public services and travel and tourism.
At NKC Gravesend College, students can develop practical skills for careers in construction, engineering and maritime, supported by industry-focused facilities that help prepare them for the workplace. The college also offers career-focused courses in hairdressing and catering including its own professional restaurant, providing further opportunities to turn interests into valuable skills.
For those who thrive outdoors, NKC Hadlow College is a land-based college offering a learning environment unlike any other. Across its extensive working estate, students can develop practical skills in animal management, equine, horticulture, agriculture and fisheries. From caring for animals to maintaining machinery and exploring more sustainable ways to grow food, there is plenty to get stuck into.
At NKC Tonbridge College, hospitality students gain experience in a professional kitchen and front-of-house environment at The View, the college’ s training restaurant, serving real customers. The college also offers courses across creative industries, hair and beauty, business, computing, construction, health and social care, public services, sport and travel and tourism.
Across all four colleges, industry placements, employer partnerships and practical projects help students understand their chosen career and connect their learning with opportunities locally. Depending on their course and ambitions, students can progress to further study, university, apprenticeships or employment.
