COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE AT THE HYATT REGENCY LONDON STRATFORD

ARRIVING INTO STRATFORD ON SOUTHEASTERN’ S HIGH-SPEED SERVICE FROM ASHFORD TAKES LITTLE MORE THAT 30 MINUTES, WHICH IMMEDIATELY CHANGES THE TONE OF AN OVERNIGHT LONDON STAY. INSTEAD OF NAVIGATING MULTIPLE TUBES, YOU STEP OUT ALMOST DIRECTLY INTO WESTFIELD STRATFORD CITY, WITH HYATT REGENCY LONDON STRATFORD SITTING JUST BEYOND THE STATION CONCOURSE. BY ADAM READY

The hotel occupies a particularly useful position within Stratford’ s constantly evolving skyline. London Stadium is visible from many of the 225 rooms, while ABBA Voyage, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Westfield, London’ s largest shopping centre, all sit within easy reach. Despite being surrounded by one of London’ s busiest districts however, the atmosphere inside feels cool and calm, softened by warm lighting and contemporary interiors.

Rooms favour practical comfort over unnecessary theatrics, which suits the hotel’ s personality- ours felt spacious by city standards, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the stadium and wider East London skyline. Generous beds, solid blackout curtains and good soundproofing made it easy to forget the shopping centre’ s position directly below, while marble bathrooms, rainfall showers and desk space for business travellers reflected a hotel that clearly understands modern travel habits.
One of the hotel’ s strongest selling points is how much it allows guests to do without needing to cross the city. Westfield Stratford City places everything from designer shopping and cinema screenings to late-night dining within minutes of the lift doors, while the Elizabeth line and underground connections make central London straightforward if plans extend further afield.
Food and drink here are centred around Elondi, which is divided into three distinct but connected spaces. Elondi Restaurant carries the polished feel of a modern hotel dining room without slipping into formality, making it well suited to pre-event dinners or business meetings with a welcome bit of atmosphere. Relaxing ultramarine tones, brass detailing and low lighting give the room warmth during the evening, while Elondi Bar is more sociable, with cocktail drinkers gathering around the dimly lit counter and smaller groups settling in for evening. Outside, Elondi Terrace really comes into its own during early summer’ s warmer weather. Elevated above the streets below, it feels surprisingly tucked away considering Stratford’ s pace, the sun catching the terrace through the afternoon before the space shifts into a more energised evening crowd.
Elondi’ s menu focuses on accessible crowdpleasers done properly rather than anything overly complicated, which suits the setting. Smooth hummus arrived alongside warm taboon flatbread that retained just enough chew and char from the grill, while halloumi bites coated in crisp Japanese breadcrumbs balanced salty richness with a gentle sweetness from the chilli dip. A beef burger layered with bacon, mature cheese and sriracha mayo was anything but heavy, with the tang of its spicy sauce cutting cleanly through the meat’ s richness while crisp lettuce and gherkins gave a welcome and fresh crunch. An 8oz ribeye steak with fries delivered exactly what many guests are likely craving after a long day in the city- well-cooked steak with great flavour, crispy chips and no unnecessary flourishes that can distract from comfort food done well.
Breakfast the following morning was equally satisfying, with the buffet section providing DIY English breakfast options alongside pastries, fruit and lighter continental choices, but the real strength lies in how smoothly the hotel handles volume. Staff remained attentive throughout the stay without becoming intrusive and service across the restaurant, bar and reception- despite the number of people and turnover of guests- consistently struck the right balance between polished and approachable.
For anyone searching for a London stay that feels convenient rather than complicated, Hyatt Regency London Stratford gets the balance right. Comfortable rooms, excellent transport connections and genuinely useful proximity to major venues make it a hotel that understands its audience and doesn’ t falter in its offering.
