SAMANTHA READY EDITOR / MD
My links to Kent are generational; one of my grandmothers was born on a farm in Edenbridge, the other came over from Cork, Ireland, at just 21 years old to be a nurse in Chartham during the war, marrying my grandad in Burgate, Canterbury. From my own school days in West Wickham to now living in
Westwell, I love discovering all that Kent has to offer and sharing the best places to go, see and eat with our readers.
I still get a buzz when people tell me how much they love the magazine and that they have ventured to a new place because they had read about it in these very pages. As a small family-owned and operated, locally produced magazine, I also love to hear the stories of other local indies, from those who run their own farms, farmshops and restaurants to those who make, create and do across the county.
Outside of work and exploring all that Kent has to offer( usually with my junior iK reporters Lyla, Jaxon and Madison in tow), I love travelling further afield too. Nothing quite beats a first sunset in a new city or country, especially if it’ s to the backdrop of crystal clear shores, and I’ m always on the lookout for a standout espresso martini, some stunning architecture and a great plate of food!

TOP OUTDOOR FOOD FOLKESTONE HARBOUR ARM
I love Folkestone all year, but come summer the Harbour Arm comes alive with great pop-ups and live music. This year, I can’ t wait to try Hatch Chicken, indulge in a Reynolds Ice Cream and hit Thirsty Farrier’ s new surf-inspired outdoor bar for a cocktail... or three!
TOP CONSISTENT PICK THACKERAY’ S
Every time I have had the pleasure of dining at Thackeray’ s over the last decade it has always been incredible, so in their 25th anniversary year it seems a fitting top pick choice. My sweet-tooth go-to is always their soufflé- it never disappoints!
