REMEDY BAR

THE TEMPLE OF FINE DRINKING

Self-coined‘ the temple of fine drinking’, Remedy is that and considerably more. This hidden gem in the Porta Venezia district is part wine bar, part cigar lounge, part tasting room and part glorious subterranean shrine to the world’ s best vintages. Founded in 2024 by three friends, Alessandro Michelon, Michele Bernardi and Amedeo Pagano, who pooled their lifelong collections and expertise, it houses approximately 18,000 bottles across 6,000 labels, with a particular focus on Burgundy, Champagne and Bordeaux alongside Italian excellence.

The space itself is designed like a sophisticated club: leather sofas, warm lighting, wood panelling and playful details, all offering that particular quality of hushed reverence that serious wine demands. It is cleverly structured across multiple levels, offering a labyrinthian wine discovery including a cellar that’ s worth visiting alone simply to witness the sheer scale of what they’ ve assembled.
We were guided through an introductory fizz and lovely bottle of Masseria Borgo dei Trulli Spumante Metodo Classico Brut Bio 2021 by manager Gianluca, whose passion for wine and sharing the experience is genuinely infectious. He appeared at regular interviews, with just‘ one more small bite to eat’, proffering everything from heaving slabs of fresh, olive-oil-slicked, olivestudded focaccia to shavings of fresh ham and a cheeseboard that spoke eloquently of Puglia, the Comté proving a particular favourite- nutty, complex and aged to that sweet spot where crystals have formed and flavour is concentrated, it paired beautifully with the wine, itself a fabulous introduction to the cellar’ s myriad of choices.
In fact, Remedy boasts the largest wine cellar in the region … and they’ re not exaggerating. This is where serious wine lovers go to find bottles they have only read about( or perhaps haven’ t even discovered yet), where curious drinkers discover new obsessions, and where an evening can stretch on simply because leaving feels impossible( and the snacks are just that good, too!).
Remedy isn’ t just about what’ s in the glass, though that is spectacular. It’ s about the ritual, the knowledge and the understanding of global viticulture; even spending a few hours here feels like you are being admitted to a secret club and being let into something rather special.

DA VITTORIO CAFÉ LOUIS VUITTON

BRUNCH IN THE GARDEN

There are brunch spots and then there is having breakfast in what can only be described as a fashionista’ s secret garden, heralding the entrance to one of the world’ s most iconic fashion houses.

Da Vittoria Café Louis Vuitton, a collaboration between the three- Michelin-starred Cerea family and Louis Vuitton, occupies the former courtyard of Palazzo Taverna, transformed into a luminous jardin d’ hiver with glass ceilings and the sort of refined elegance one would expect from both parties.
Alongside an upstairs fine dining restaurant, the café is the partnership’ s breakfast-to-lunch offering, taking guests from early cappuccino to Caesar salad via a showstopping mix of incredible patisserie. We arrived for brunch and were immediately charmed. Fresh croissants with apricot jam were buttery and properly laminated. Poached eggs arrived perfectly cooked. But, it was the chocolate-encased signature cakes, including the Insta-worthy monogrammed chocolate mousse cake bearing the signature LV insignia that truly captured the spirit of the place: luxury rendered delicious, attention to detail in every bite.
Arriving as Easter approached, we were gifted an extra slice of Colomba Pasquale- the Italian Easter equivalent of Christmas panettone, all fluffy slow-leavened brioche dough studded with candied citrus, topped with crisp pearl sugar and almond glaze. It was insanely good in the best possible way, the sort of treat that has you reaching for just one more piece before you realise you’ ve polished off the lot. A feat made easier when washed down with a proper Italian cappuccino, this one bearing the LV logo in foam, because, of course.
Much like its eponymous fashion house, Da Vittoria Café Louis Vuitton is unashamedly luxurious and unapologetically beautiful, it is also genuinely delicious. Perfect for when you want brunch to feel like a proper occasion or simply because you are worth it.
