HIDE & FOX
Opened by Alice Bussi and Allister Barsby in 2019, the extraordinary two Michelin-starred hide and fox has firmly established itself as one of the country’ s standout dining destinations, joining Kent’ s growing hotlist of restaurants who are placing the county squarely on the culinary map.

Pairing rather dynamically with Allister’ s praised menu mastery is the expertise of co-owner, sommelier and manager, Alice Bussi. Her career has taken her across Europe to the UK, where she continued to work with Michelin-starred chefs and within award-winning establishments. Crowned Food and Beverage Manager of the Year at the Hotel Catey Awards in 2018, Alice’ s front-of-house finesse, passion for food and instinctive wine pairings enhance every dish, reflecting the shared standards of excellence the pair are widely known for.

LILY SMITH
Fantastically shaking up the steak scene, founder Lily Smith is the visionary behind this female-led steak revolution which, after stirring up Londoners with its first two capital locations, took Margate locals by storm with the opening of its new site in the historic seafront pub Cinque Ports in November last year.
Committed to keeping things simple, sustainable and seriously delicious, Stakehaus takes its inspiration from classic American diners, with a clear mission to make steak fun and accessible while always sourcing top-quality, high-welfare beef. Under Lily’ s careful direction, the brand’ s bold, flavour-forward style shines bright throughout the Cinque Ports’ menu. Much-loved signatures such as bavette steak with a selection of fries and sauces sit alongside an expanded offering of snacks, starters and pub classics with a twist, including a flagship Sunday roast served with all the trimmings.
With community and individuality at its fore, Lily and her husband Alfie Smith are working towards a simple yet exciting goal: to create the kind of pub that their own family and friends would want to spend long, lazy lunches in, before rolling seamlessly into a livelier evening.
Sète, Margate, setemargate. com
Named after the coastal town in France, Sète is a buzzing neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar taking unique style influences from a few of founder Natalia Ribbe’ s favourite wine bars in Paris, blended with the ease of the southern French countryside and modern New York finishes.
STAKEHAUS
Honing exceptional taste, skill and ambition from her time working across restaurants in Vienna, New York and London, as well as the proud founder of the extraordinary female collective, Ladies of Restaurants( LOR)- an inclusive community designed to inspire, support and empower more women to enter and thrive in the hospitality industry- Natalia is a fiercely loyal champion of women achieving incredible things, a value that is very much present in every part of Sète.
A spot built especially for good times, food here thoughtfully echoes the seasons, with produce-led dishes designed for everything from midweek nibbles to indulgent suppers and special occasion sharing. While the plates are nothing short of a triumph, the bar’ s ever-evolving and perfectly paired wine list is the showstopper. Showcasing Old World classics and accessible natural wines, it shines a spotlight on female winemakers and exciting nextgeneration vintners, complemented by a seasonally changing list of wine on tap and regular private tastings.
