FLORRIE’ S MARCH DOG DAYS

DAYSOUT
FAVERSHAM
A historic market town with a working creek, Faversham offers a slower but deeply satisfying kind of wandering, where independent shops, bakeries and pubs are woven into everyday life.
Morning Begin around Market Place and Court Street, where timber-framed buildings and uneven paving set the tone. Independent shops sit alongside long-standing businesses, making browsing feel unhurried and local. Grain and Hearth Bakery is a good place to start, whether you are stopping for coffee and something freshly baked or picking up bread to take away.
From here, wander through the surrounding streets, dipping into small independents and antique shops before the town fully wakes up. Make time for Macknade Fine Foods, a Faversham institution and a brilliant place to browse local produce, Kentish wines, and carefully chosen treats to take home.
Afternoon Follow the pull of the water towards Faversham Creek, where boats bob gently along the banks and wide skies open up. The Shipwright’ s Arms is a great spot for a drink right by the water, before heading to Posillipo’ s for a late lunch or early dinner. Sitting above the creek, it is the perfect place to be as the day draws on.
iK’ s unmissable hotspot! No trip to Faversham would be complete without a stop at Court Street’ s buzzy coffee shop, Ours. Known for its cute, contemporary décor and an innovative matcha menu to make any fan of the Japanese tea smile, the loaded sourdough specials, salads and toasties are also a big hit with hungry brunchers.
Cobbled streets have a way of setting the pace; they slow you down just enough to notice what is around you- a shop window worth stopping for, the smell of fresh coffee, the pull of the sea or the quiet hum of a market town going about its day. From city streets to coastal lanes, these corners of Kent are made for wandering and March is the perfect time to lace up your shoes and follow where the cobbles lead.
FLORRIE’ S MARCH DOG DAYS
BY FLORRIE, iK’ S RESIDENT COCKAPOO
Hello my spring-curious pals.
March is when things start to feel hopeful again. The days get longer, the birds get louder and humans begin saying things like“ it’ s not that cold”. It’ s the perfect month for gentle exploring, so I’ m recommending a stroll through one of Kent’ s prettiest landscapes: Knole Park, Sevenoaks.
This vast deer park is ideal for dogs who enjoy open space, winding paths and a good sniff carried on the breeze. Ancient trees dot the landscape and there’ s plenty of room to wander without feeling hemmed in. March brings that in-between magic- winter mud is fading, spring is teasing and the light makes everything look extra lovely.
Dogs are welcome on leads throughout the park, which is sensible given the resident deer( very elegant, not for chasing). Stick to the paths, enjoy the gentle hills and take in the views across the Weald. It’ s peaceful, calm and wonderfully restorative for both paws and people.
After your walk, Sevenoaks town is just a short hop away, with dog-friendly cafés perfect for a well earned rest.
March is a great month for stretching the legs and shaking off winter. Knole is just the ticket for early Spring walkies.
Until next month,

Florrie
