KENT WOMEN IN BUSINESS:
WOMAN UP ASHFORD
A COLLECTIVE FOR CHANGE
Woman Up Ashford is a small group of local women with big aspirations to support women and girls in the Ashford area.
Woman Up started out as a small group of female-led local businesses in 2022, who wanted to showcase the amazing work women were doing in the local community for International Women’ s Day. Over the years, Woman Up Ashford has continued to develop and grow.
This International Women’ s Day, we are helping to shout about and support multiple events across Ashford, as well as create some of our own. One of our standout pieces is a billboard filled with diverse and inclusive women from Ashford who have been invited to submit their pictures to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with each other; a powerful celebration of the beautiful, strong and amazing women who are a part of our town. This can be found at Ashford Designer Outlet throughout the month of March.
There are a number of other events happening across the town for International Women’ s Day organised by a variety of people and organisations, including female councillors from Ashford Borough Council who have organised a march and a Women in History Trail for the town centre across multiple venues for the month.
Events include: Open Mic Night( 5 March, 7pm, free entry, The Glasshouse) celebrating female-written songs; Bingo –( 5 March, 7pm, The Wardrobe Ashford) raising funds for Woman Up ' s continuing work with women and girls in the community; an International Women’ s Day Makers’ Market( 7 March, 10am- 4pm, Ashford Town Centre); Thrive 26( 7 March, 10am- 4pm, Stour Centre) and a return of the now annual Reclaim These Streets March( 8 March, 1.30pm, Victoria Park).
